Professor Jeffrey Pollard at the Centre for Reproductive Health at the University of Edinburgh is looking for post-doctoral positions to join his lab immediately.
We are looking for a highly motivated and independent researcher to join a team working on the tumour microenvironment and particularly the role of macrophages, in cancer progression and metastasis. The candidate will be expected to have a record of good publications and to be interested in immunity. Studies will focus on breast cancer using fresh clinical and archival material, induced pluripotent stem cell derived macrophages and animal models. An understanding of imaging techniques would be an advantage. However, most important is creativity the ability and drive to work independently and an interest in tumour immunity.

THE POSITION. We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled researcher to work on a project entitled: “Personalized antigen-specific immunotherapy to halt autoimmunity in pre-symptomatic and symptomatic Type 1 Diabetic subjects” Grant Key: 3-SRA-2021-1007-S-B, funded by JDRF.
A postdoctoral position is available to work on a translational project foreseeing the use of state-of-the-art genetic approaches, immunological assays, and newly developed in vivo models. The project aims at investigating the in vitro modulatory activities of lentiviral vector-engineered dendritic cells (DC) from type 1 diabetes patients and to develop a novel HuMice model to study the regulatory activity of engineered DC in vivo.
Starting Date: May/June 2022
The Friedrich Loeffler Institute (FLI) is one of the world's leading research institutes in the field of animal diseases, animal welfare, animal husbandry, animal nutrition and farm animal genetics. It is part of the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and informs and advises the Federal Government in these areas. The Institute of Immunology, at the headquarters in Greifswald – Insel Riems is looking for aScientific Employee (m/f/d)to start a soon as possible on a full-time basis.
The position is limited to two years as part of a probationary leadership. If the candidate proves himself, he/she will be offered a permanent position.
Tasks:
The successful candidate will study the immunology of B cells during infection and will build up an independent research group. Investigations should characterize B cell populations and antibody repertoires in livestock and wildlife by combining experimental tools and bioinformatics. Analysis of antigen specificities, BCR repertoires and antibody features should promote design of novel interventions against notifiable animal diseases and/or zoonoses. Analysis of immune responses should be explored in a comparative approach, including experiments in high containment laboratories (safety level 2 and 3).
•Investigations on B cell responses during bacterial and viral infection•Combine experimental tools and bioinformatics to functionally analyze BCR/antibody repertoires
•Application of state-of-the-art and high-throughput technologies to define BCR and antibody specificities (e.g. single cell/AIR sequencing, cloning, binding assays, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing)
•Development of an advanced serology pipeline for livestock
Requirements:
•University degree in biosciences
•PhD in Immunology, Infection Biology or related Biosciences
•Proven expertise in B cell immunology and bioinformatics
Assets for the position are
:•Experience in development and refinement of high-content high-resolution platforms for BCR/antibody investigations
•Experience in supervision of trainees
•Expertise in work with infectious organisms
•Excellent communication skills in English
For this position, the experience in establishing investigation platforms as well as methodologies are mandatory. In addition, the candidate should be capable of interdisciplinary work.
The job involves working in a biosecurity environment, which requires a security clearance according to the Security Clearance Act (Sicherheitsüberprüfungsgesetz, SÜG) and special protective measures against health hazards.
